'Beef tartare, sub chicken': Food service workers reveal the most unsettling orders they had to make for customers

Working in a restaurant can be a humbling experience in more ways than one. It doesn't matter if it is a fancy establishment or the trashiest fast food; things are going to happen in that job that will have those working there questioning their sanity for choosing to be in food service. The heat of the kitchen is stressful enough, but the hangry and entitled customers just take things to another level.

It is common knowledge that the average American is not afraid to customize their order, and up to a point, most restaurants are willing to accommodate that. However, there are certain diners who will push it to its limits so that their peculiar tastes are catered for. It is one thing to be a picky eater, but some people seem to be on another level when it comes to their favorite foods. Their food preferences can be quite the eye-opener.

Most of those who have worked in food service have come across orders that are gross, absurd, or just plain worrying at times. While they may be opposed to cooking or serving it, more often than not, they have no choice.
